During 7/25/07-8/3/07 we have a group of 7 blind/visually impaired girls here at AE. I must say that working with them is truly inspiring. The level of trust and drive it takes for a completely blind young lady to complete the entire ropes course with just a little verbal direction from the ground is phenomenal. They have fearlessly hiked 2 hours into Tenderfoot Falls in a rainstorm. They have defeated me in a game of hide-and-go-seek. The have rappelled down a 140' rock face! The list goes on and on, and everything they were involved in they participated with vigor and enthusiasm.

I am truly proud to call these inspirational young women my friends.

What a Fun Week!

Hey all...it's Kaysie again. With a new group of girls joining us at AE this week we've been able to do some fun activities. Monday we had awesome weather and were able to hike Balanced Rock - a gorgeous mountain with caves on the top. The girls had a blast up there and the views were awesome! Today we were able to go rappelling despite the yucky weather we had this morning. Five of the eight girls completed the rapel down a 140 foot cliff! What a rush! Check out the soon to be up pictures of the awesome week!

Another day of fun and antics at the Flume. Matt and Seth BOTH jumped from the highest cliff today. There was also an adorable family of ducks watching all of the commotion.

Balanced Rock

This week brings us a new group of 8 girls and new adventures. The first of the week was a hike up to Balanced Rock. The girls got to enjoy a great view on a clear day as well as many neat rock formations.

Busy day at AE

The weather couldn't have been better today. We had a fantastic "corporate group" on our low ropes course all day that kept us laughing in the sunshine. It was great to witness their progresses at they worked together and overcame not only physical but emotional obstacles as well.

A few other staff members took our group of girls to a 140ft rappel site just outside of Keene. The activity was daunting for many, but two of the girls persevered and completed the rappel!!!!

Postman's Walk

The High Ropes Course is indeed daunting for many. This element, called the "Postman's Walk" is 80ft long. You side step the entire way across while wabbling and pushing against the upper wire... to eventually make it to the ZIPLINE. Our girls had a great time today participating in the High Ropes Course (when they weren't dodging the raindrops!)

Hey all!
Hope you had a nice weekend!
We have 8 new girls that started a week long program with us today. They are all full of smiles and excited to experience a week at AE. We began the activities today with our rock-climbing wall and promptly cooled off at The Flume before dinner time.
Will share more tomorrow!
